Curtis Bauer & Patrick Rosal

On October 18th, Manderley had the delight of hosting a reading by the inimitable Curtis Bauer and Patrick Rosal.


Curtis Bauer is the author of three poetry collections, most recently American Selfie (Barrow Street Press). He is also a translator of poetry and prose from the Spanish, including most recently the full-length poetry collection Image of Absence (The Word Works), by Jeannette L. Clariond. His translations of the following books are forthcoming: both the novel The Home Reading Program and the book of short stories, Mothers and Dogs, by the Mexican writer Fabio Morábito will be published by OTHER Press; and the memoir Land Of Women: An Intimate And Familiar View Of The Rural Environment, by the Spanish writer María Sánchez, forthcoming from Trinity University Press. Curtis is the publisher and editor of Q Avenue Press Chapbooks, the translations editor for The Common and International Advisory Editor for Broken Bowl Editions, the US subsidiary of Vaso Roto Ediciones. He currently Directs of the Creative Writing Program at Texas Tech University.


Patrick Rosal is a multi-disciplinary artist and author of four books, most recently Brooklyn Antediluvian, winner of the Lenore Marshall Prize and finalist for the Kingsley Tufts Award. He has earned fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Fulbright Senior Research Program. He has taught at Princeton University, the University of Texas, Austin, and Sarah Lawrence College. A professor of English at Rutgers-Camden, he has designed a number of interdisciplinary public art projects through the ad hoc Institute for Contemporary Collaborative Imagining and has led writing workshops for youth, incarcerated populations, and many other communities across the U.S. Having just completed his forthcoming book, The Last Thing: New and Selected Poems, he is now composing a suite for jazz ensemble that includes Filipino folkloric instrumentation.
